Very true, Hate seeing people bringing CD's and DVD's in to sell to my store trying to pass this "trick" off now I have to go through a whole ton of scratched CDs that smell of toothpaste and are sticky to the touch.

Toothpaste does not get scratches out of CDs and DVDs. That is a myth. If it was abrasive enough to buff scratches out, it would be more harmful to teeth than carbonated drinks. PS. Brasso works for optical discs, as it slightly melts the plastic.

Toothpaste does not get out DEEP scratches, but it does act as an abrasive, polishing the surface of the disk, making it easier to read. It does help with skipping when the disk has light scratches.
